Re: First Build advice needed

I am in canada, and yes thicker tank are rare. Air compressor at 200 psi (3/16 thick. Not .25 but its good start) is an easy way to go. You can call a guy who repar air compressor, he can rederict you to their customer they just bought new compressor, dont be shy to ask for the older one.

Good build

Re: First Ever Build/Never Welded Before

Hi sandro, as a retired welder the best tip is practice. Fisrt of all, adjust your welder to the same thickness of the materials you want to weld. Get scrap metal of same thickness and weld, weld weld and weld. Get a basket full of water to put in you piece to cold them. As you feel comfortable then...

Re: Ugly Duckling #2

Ok because 2 nights ago i got an idea will sleeping. I plan to use 1 inch plain round bar (hot rolled) for the massive look and to add weight on the door to let the gasket sit right in place. But the cons of this weight can crush the gasket door to fast maybe, depending on the total weight

Got a question about your CC door handle. Its 1/2 or 3/4 plain round bar? With higher temp or long cooking, is the bar become too hot?

The fire box would have a lid that could be opened up and you could use it like a grill to do steaks and such. If you look at the Workhorse 1975 that’s a good example of what I’m talking about. They call it a cowboy grill.
Thank you for the example, ill take a look

Re: Another Newbie

Well here’s a couple pics. I had a look at ol Frankenstein this evening. Things pretty rough, considering covering the whole thing and have a square fire box, semi insulated. I really want a cooking grate on the FB. There are some designs that I have seen that have that so I guess I’ll research and...

For what is"s worth - 24 square is the same size I have on my 120 gal RF. It is 1/4 plate as well. Runs like a dream and wouldn't change a thing. does a 10 hour smoke with minimal wood, flows perfectly and holds steady at about 250 consistently, unless really cold out. I did install fire brick in t...

Thank you. I gave up on boiled linseed oil. Maybe I didn't do it right, but it didn't work all that great for me. Plus it turns all yellow and dingy over time.
Ok, then hi temp paint seems the good way..
