Re: 250 First Time Texas Open Offset

Thinking forward to the trailer part of this build. Thinking just a simple single axle out of 2x4 11g... Will that be sufficient strength?

Re: 250 First Time Texas Open Offset

Started working on getting the racks knocked out.... Next up is exhaust stack.... Question, calculations are showing 36" for a 6" stack. Can i make it longer or will that change flow to much?

Re: 250 First Time Texas Open Offset

Didn't think to adjust for a gasket...Hinges are just tacked for now, so may have saved a little bit of trouble... What are some go to gaskets to use?

Re: 250 First Time Texas Open Offset

Due to the double wall thickness of the insulated firebox that would put the top of throat opening 2" lower than the grate?

Re: 250 First Time Texas Open Offset

Yes, defiantly gonna be a slow build... Another question, with doing a fully insulated firebox should I raise the box to put the throat opening exactly at grate level?

Re: 250 First Time Texas Open Offset

Finally getting started on build. Old tank has fairly short end caps approximately 8" to weld seam. Will that be deep enough to mount firebox or should i cut it deeper?

Re: 250 First Time Texas Open Offset

Mainly just double checking myself on firebox throat opening and stack size and length... I maybe over thinking alot of it...lol, wanting to do a round fire chamber with square insulated box. 24x30 was my calculation for chamber size but was gonna mount it more like a square is mounted....

250 First Time Texas Open Offset

Scored a 1946 250 gallon for my first build. Looking at doing a Moberg style with a round insulated firebox. Where is the best place to start to get an idea on firebox volume, also wanting to use a 8" 90 degree elbow reduced to 6" stack?
