Just play with the calculator - you can't hurt it. Start by entering your CC dimensions and guess at the rest. It will tell you what direction to change to so that you come up with the correct combination of numbers.

Good morning Gizmo, I just ran a bunch of numbers and from what I get and looking at your Earl build pictures I am second guessing the my firebox size. My cc is 32"long by 16" dia. I worked out a FB to be 16"x14"x10" and needing 19.30sq " in make up air,, Earls FB looks bigger and His intake or makeup air looks larger, knowing this info
1) is it ok to slightly build the FB and make up air larger than needed?
2.) I am wondering if the Feldon clac. allows for the firebox to have an ash pan?
I'm more familiar with the pit calc on this site. Have you used that one?
