We got a little more done today. Smokestacks, latches and thermometers installed. Couple of more latches on the firebox end and we are ready to muscle it on the trailer! Hope no one gets crushed!

This is turning out to be an excellent project. My bet is that by the end of the school year, there's a gigantic initiation BBQ party?

Over the years I thought abt a square CC. Thought I was crazy. When I first saw the MACK on here... I went there it is. Of course prior to this site I wasn't thinking of building a RF. The MACK will be built in my future!
I think it's cool this is a school project!
Definitely an end of the year Q-fest!!!

As many of you know CRS been making square cookers for a few years now. They are so much easier to build and we will never go back to tanks or pipe. If your planning a new cooker, go SQUARE.

I have to agree...No need to go tank hunting. And for those just old enough to remember, as they would say in the 1960's. L7 (square)

We are getting really close to being done! We have to finish the wood box, add safety chains, wire it and paint it and it is out the door. We are just building it for cost, but I am curious what this thing would sell for? What is a realistic estimate?

I would say $6500-$7000 price range if you were to sell it but that's just my best guess.

The new owner of our semester long welding project picked up his smoker today and was pretty happy with it. Here are a few pictures of the finished project the kids have been working on since November. It turned out pretty awesome.
Part of the reason he may have been so happy is it only cost him materials ($2600)! It makes for good publicity for the school and we will get a good return in the future I am sure.

That is just stunning. We made things like hanging basket brackets in our metal work class. (Going back a bit now!) But the thing is, your class have been involved with building this and in the future when beer and other distractions stop getting in the way, they will be off building their own pits. Just brilliant.

They did an amazing job, they should rightly be proud. :points:
