Help with throat dimensions

Post by bswisher » December 6th, 2017, 10:05 pm

I have used the calculator and think I have everything sorted out but I need help with the actual half moon size. My tank is 60 gal, 20x48, fb is square 17x17x17, throat size comes out to 39.3. I need to know the width and height of the opening. I want to place the bottom of the throat even with the bottom curve of the tank.

Thanks in advance

One more quick question... I have seen several posts online stating that i should take the recommended size (39.3) SQ IN and multiply it by 1.5 which would change my opening from 15.5x3.68 to somewhere around 16.75x4.75. Which is correct?

I always go with the size that the calculator recommends and I've never had any issues. I do normally round it up to the next square inch because of my OCD but that isn't really necessary...lol. Feel free to ask any questions that you have and someone will be glad to help you out.
