First new build from 45kg gas bottle

Post by flow001 » September 1st, 2021, 9:52 pm

Hi guys
I m new here!
I live in australia!
I m french and struggling with imperial measurement!!

I have a 45kg gas bottle that i cut roughly 1/3 2/3.
I m struggling to calculate the 1/2 moon i have to cut between cooking chamber and the firebox.
And also struggling for the lenght of my flue. I ll use 100mm (4") pipe.
I would love some help before i start cutting or welding stuff together.
The cooking chamber is 700mm long and 380mm diameter!. The firebox is 370mm by 380 diameter.

Cheers
Flo

Welcome!

You could always map out the half moon the redneck way......whether in inches or mm's you could make a grid on cardboard in square inches or metric and then overlay the diameter of your cook chamber onto that grid with a half moon drawn on and count squares. Count the whole ones first then add up the partials with the best guess as to their size and you should get a good idea how big it needs to be. Enlarge or shorten the half moon until you hit the number the calculator calls for.

If your good at math the calculator has a tutorial on how to calculate the area.....

Me and math never did add up well.

Welcome. Your FB is too big but for the throat you'll need a cutout of 81 mm high following the shape of the bottom of the tank.
