Oil Barrell

Post by sthomasaz » December 26th, 2018, 2:46 pm

I have a buddy that is going to give me a 55 gallon oil barrel.

I know the typical thing to do is to make a version of the OBD, but I was wanting to use it to make an offset like the one I already have that isn't as big as I would like.

Do you all think that the steel of the drum will be thick enough to do this with?

Welome.

Most use the barrel to make a UDS (ugly drum smoker).
I have seen a drum made into a grill type arrangement, but not an offset as such. I'd say the steel is a bit thin to make an offset and even if you managed it it might not have a very long life-span.
But there are more savvy fellers on this site than I am so it might even be possible.

UDS is what I meant. Used the wrong TLA (Three letter Acronym)

Then, yes....perfect for an UDS.

Probably would not recommend an offset with it unless you could do it SUPER cheep and only planned on light use. It’s pretty thin. It would work tho if you were determined.
