Couple of quick questions

Post by Buggs » June 18th, 2020, 6:54 am

I have the plans for the Legacy 4800 smoker.
1. Can you put a baffle between the CC and the WC and smoke thru both at the same time?
2. If I have access to a 30" dia. propane tank can I just scale the drawings up and everything will work?

Thanks

Yes, a baffle will work between the two.

Up-sizing from 24 to 30 inch pipe will require you to calculate new dimensions for everything but definitely can be done.

This is the tank I was able to get my hands on and a sketch of what I'm thinking of doing with it.
Do we see any major problems with the size or design. I tried going thru the calculator and worked things out for the tank part, But I want to be able to use the WC as part of the smoker as well. Not sure how to calculate the extra area. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A warmer box Is considered “bonus” space and is not needed in the calculation. Base your firebox off the main cook chamber only.

One thing I will mention is that, tho i do smoke in mine occasionally, I would not plan on it as absolutely needed space. If you feel your cook chamber is too small and the warmer will be used on the majority of cooks I would suggest obtaining a bigger tank. Reason being is it works to cook but meat out of my main chamber always tastes better.
