I am going to milk this to the end. anyone want to bet its going to run out of gas just when I need it the most.

I got so tired of running out of gas at bad times that I bought a second tank to keep at the house. Nothing worse than running out at 11am on sat morning and ruining a work weekend since the gas distributor is closed till Monday.

Yeah. I borrowed my buddies tank when I was fabricating. Nothing worse then getting almost done. I do keep an emergency roll of flux core on hand, but its gotta be pretty bad to put it in.

I welded up the coal hopper, burn area and ash area. A couple doors. And still had a small amount of gas left. I picked up a new tank of mix. So all is well.

Good choice. If you luck is like mine, you would have run out Sat morning and too late to get gas till mon.

when building doors be sure to read the small print off to the side, I didn't on the first door.

It does look like an interesting buld. Nice not having to cut and clean up all the pieces. Looking good.

Getting closer to the bottom of the crate. At this pace it should be done tomorrow. I will post pictures tonight after dinner

NO HOIST for this move. I wrapped my arms around it and lifted with my legs. WOW am I glad this part is done

I only have good things to say so far about the fitment and quality of this kit. Thinking back I wish I would have logged my hours and how many I have spent so far. I really have not put that much time in building this smoker, I really only made 2 small oops and both were easy to fix.


Made a phone call to a local paint shop and they stated they would powder coat it for about $200, That just secured the job for them, I didn't know they would do it so cheap. Will keep you posted. I am thinking bright red, maybe green, or blue Toooooo many choices

Powercoated for $200? That's almost too good to be true. Remember that you need something that's a little higher heat around the ash door.

I only had to move it from the table to the cooker body which was about 4 ft. And it stayed waists high. So it wasn't that bad of a move even tho it's very heavy

A little off topic but it's going to be spring soon and i wouldn't mind bringing this one to the next gathering. Just tossing the idea out. Incase someone needs to see it up close doing it's thing.

When I lifted the burn assembly for my double pan down off the fixture table where I welded it up (with assistance,) it was all we could do to just slow it down on the way to the concrete. No way, no how, were we going to stop it or hoist it by ourselves.
