can i paint over sil-bond rtv 6500 high temperature

Just curious if anyone has done this and was it successful in that the RTV was still effective after painting

Personally never done it but I would think paint would have a hard time adhering to the rtv and would quickly crack/chip off where compressed within a few uses. I’ll bet someone out there has better experience tho.

Typically silicone is not paintable.
I found a similar product and their spec sheet does not say paintable, but it will stick to paint after something is painted.

As DT mentioned it will crack when compressed because RTV is silicone.
also with expansion and contraction because of heating and cooling' paint will crack, chip and eventually fall off.
I have seen silicone products painted at work on many occasions, and it always failed after time.
RTV sticks to painted objects though, and if neatly applied doesn't look too bad. IMHO
I would paint my smoker first and lay neat bead over the paint, To me that looks better than a cracked chipping painted silicone seam.
