The fabricator is hitting it hard. Looks like last cover of cook chamber is welded on and the frame is finished:

Great progress...... but I hope that's not a fixed grate in the bottom of the cook chamber. Burning natural lump, I've had "opportunities" with non-burnable material piling up on the burn grate. One of the smartest things I did in my GF was change to a removable grate.

The grate you see in the first set of pictures is the heat transfer channel. The grate is the side wall of the firebox.

The next set of pictures is of the ash box, so the hole there is the bottom of my fire box. Inside the top of the ash box are the angle “rails” for the removable burn grate.

No problem, I “think” I have all my bases covered in this build.

I welcome tips from experienced users. I will keep a list for the possibility of my next and bigger GF.

Nice work! I also thought that the top picture was your charcoal chute and fire box, glad to hear that it wasn't.

Just some advice about the grate in the transfer tube...make sure you have a way to remove ash from it if it doesn't drop strait into the cook chamber. Mine has 3-4" rectangular tube before it drops into the cook chamber and it loaded up with ash. I didn't notice it until I was investigating low temp issues. I clean it out after every cook now.

Mine will have the same amount of space more or less. Did not think that would happen, I will have access to that space from the cook chamber but it maybe a little awkward to get to it.

Thanks for the advice and headsup.

I was thinking of using the probe ports and that the fan cable would be long enough to go under the smoker and reach the intake. One thing I may regret is not putting in a little shelf for the Meater and or temp controller.

It looks great! How do you plan to seal between the charcoal chute and FB ?

I bought wood stove rope gasket. Enough to make two loops on top of the fire brick if needed.

U still might be able to build a small custom shelf/ inverted pan and rivet or screw it to the outer skin after the fact after U figure out what you are purchasing and have dimensions of the new controller.. Probably will not even look like an after though
