I butted the sheet up square on my double pan GF, turned the heat up a notch and the wire feed down a bit to get penetration down to the tubing. Left a fairly nice corner.

Thanks for the reply, I'm debating whether it's necessary to cap the edges, but doing it the way you suggested may not be as bad as i was thinking. Did you cap the edges of the doors on your burner as well?

I did not "cap" the edges. I welded up the frames and welded the large sheets in place. Welds will eventually get ground down for paint.
