Nice work!
Yes, that should work fine. Charcoal chimney to get started or a weed burner on a 5 gallon tank under the charcoal chute grate work good as well, and is my preferred choice.
If still brand new, Wash the grates down good with Dawn or any dish soap and give them a good rinse.
Do the same with the inside walls and door.
Then coat everything with vegetable oil.
I used the spray vegetable oil (lazy man's way) then I fired it up for a few hours at 350 degrees F.
I like the extra coating from multiple cooks and use the top racks mainly and let all of the drippings get to the lower extremities.
After I am done, I brush everything down good and use a long scraper on my grates and scoop all of the particles that falls from the grates, and I am done. I tried steaming everything out like I do with my stick burner by adding a little water but got a bunch of white residue on the walls, which went away after my next cook.
