Recently finished double barrel smoker. Can't wait to put it through its paces.

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

im building something very similar with the pedestal and all. Im using 20" pipe Ive cut a 20" firebox and also have cut my grill section to 36" with the saddle cut into the end making my grilling surface 29" then I will add a 36" X 20" smoking chamber to that in the vertical position with 20" pipe caps on both top and bottom.I am going to run a 4" pipe all the way down the middle of the smoking chamber with the vent windows cut into the bottom of the pipe to facilitate a good smoking atmosphere.
All of this will be perched on top of a 20" pedestal with the same saddle cut into it. I have not welded any of these components together as of yet and would appreciate any tips you could provide to make my first pit a success.

Sounds well thought out. Now to be clear is your plan to have the smokers go through the grill area and then into the vertical chamber? Also for figuring out the exact saddle cut dimensions I used Google sketch-up. Worked perfect.
