Forum Redesign

Post by Pete Mazz » November 9th, 2016, 6:33 am

We're redesigning the forum layout to make it more page friendly and to reduce the number of categories. Any and all suggestions and ideas are welcomed.

I like the new look. Is there a way to track our activity and have our hot topics (and maybe posts/conversations ie reverse flow smoker design or GF ) show up somewhere when we log in? The site is tracking us already maybe use that info to customize to each user? or maybe let the user customize in something similar to the quick link area? This may be getting way to far in the weeds!

I'm on my PC and every thread that I've ever commented on is lit up like there's a new comment but there isn't. Also they aren't in order from most recently commented on to oldest commented like they were. Is anybody else having this issue ? Is there anything I can do to clear them all at once or do I have to click on every one of them? I do like the overall look of the main page, it's a lot less to take in at one time. I'll have to look around a little before I can make any suggestions.

At the bottom of each forum and topic you will see a button in the footer that says "subscribe" The one on the bottom of the forums will notify you of a new topic, the one on the thread will notify you of replies to a subscribed topic. the notification should appear at the top right of the menu bar in the notifications spot....
as far as a place to find your hot topics, there are 2 options under the "Quick Links" drop down menu in the header. look under there for "your posts" and "active topics"

There are a lot of what are called "Extensions" Pete and I will look through them and see what we can come up with once the organizing is complete

If you look on each forum at the top of the topic list there is a mark all read button. clicking that will mark all threads in that forum read. I think when we did the upgrade that was an unseen side affect. I was way behind before lol, but thats way worse now lol.... :jocomp2:

I have tried out the new navigation and can't find the section that had the breakdown of beef, chicken etc

Looks at a piece of meat and wonders how many ways can I smoke that.

That was part of the pruning process. It's all under the FOOD forum now.
