Smoking in the Arctic

Post by Clover Ridge Smokers » March 7th, 2014, 11:55 am

Here are a few pics of a comp we participated in on March 1, 2014. The air temp was -22F and the wind chill was -40F. This annual comp is held on the frozen ice of a lake in in Minnesota. The comp had 35 teams from the Midwest and was a total blast.

Looks like a blast!

If it can't be smoked .... try frying it. It that don't work, it's probably best just left alone

It was a total blast. No one fill in Gizmo. The ice was 50 inches thick. I think all of you need to come up and compete with us next year. It will be a real experience for those of you from the warm climates. Yes S1 it did put some cookers to the test. I'm glad to say all of ours worked perfect. Had several people look at my drums since they were working better than most other peoples. They wanted to know the secret to get them to work so well in cold weather. I didn't tell them but they figured it out once they took a close look.
