Fuelling a Disco

Post by maccas66 » April 9th, 2012, 2:04 am

I see everyone is using LPG to heat their Disco`s, I was woundering if you could use briquettes or charcoal to heat it!, start the stoning now! :D

Fuelling a Disco

Post by Grtpain » April 9th, 2012, 11:52 am

We have built them with a disc under the cooking disc on a threaded rod to be able to adjust the heat needed. We would burn any wood we could find including scrap framing lumber

It`s sort of a Universal / Multipurpose / convertable cooker sort of........... :-B !, it should be Wheelie handy!,......Ah Bugger!..........I forgot the pic`s! :wtf: .....be right back!

:wtf: Is that all you can say!...boy you are getting soft! =))

Now where was I, thats right......I have had this for some time, and I thought it would make a great cooking fire stand!....you with me? :D
it was first just going to be a fire pit for using the Camp Oven you guys made me buy!, so you don`t have to bend over :grillin: ,and then thats when I thought about heating a Disco as well,
they would sit nicely on top

Image

of cause it needs some trimming and rewelding.......

Image

Image

this is the backside of the rim with the centre welded back backwards and as far out as possible

Image

Then I had to think what I could use for legs............but had nothing laying around, then I remembered about the old bar stool I was going to throw away :D ...That`ll work!

Image

so here it stands at the moment!................I now plan to get a wide 14" rim or 2 and stack them ontop of each other and make a URS out of it! :bigfoot:

:-s well..........................................................................................it`s on the back burner at the moment!, I got a flat tyre, and too many other things to do ~x( .....and now we are in a total fire ban so I can`t even smoke anything!!! X(

TQ, we call that grass Buffalo grass, it holds it`s colour quite well over winter, even with the heavy frosts we sometimes have!..........it gets down to 29 F here some mornings!!!!, my yard goes from bright green to dirt in patches at the moment tho! #-o

Definitely can use charcoal, personally I have legs on my disco to put over wood! Works great, just like the old gauchos did it.
